Should I get a Chemical Peel?

Good question.

After chatting with my dermatologist and doing some research, my answer was yes – for a few reasons.

I’ve talked about this before, but in the past year, I’ve started to notice some changes in my skin – and they aren’t for-the-better changes.  The fine lines were more evident…  my freckles seemed to be giving way to a splotchiness I don’t appreciate and the tone was dull.

So I decided to try a facial Chemical Peel – with the hope that some of the things I didn’t love about my skin would diminish.  I did it heading into a weekend – having been warned that I would appear sunburned afterwards and that my skin would peel….  Here is my journey.

After my skin had ‘recovered’ from the peel, I was delighted.  My skin was brighter, noticeably softer and tighter.  My pores were smaller and there was a slight reduction in my fine lines.  My dermatologist recommends doing them in a series of three or five – and during the cooler months when you are exposed to less sun.

Let me know if you do one (or if you have – what you thought of the results)!

  1. I totally want to do the peel! Think I’ll call for an appointment!

I do two series of 6 Jessner’s Peels per year and absolutely love the results! Doing the series is the KEY! If you stop with one – you just won’t see that big a change. It was after the third one I saw my skin transform! Now – even my husband does them! :)

    lol @christina

@danielle, thanks for sharing. i would be WAY too chicken to record all of that. I think I’m going to make an appointment soon. My aesthetician recommended a 70% Lactic Peel

  4. @chloe – I need to learn more about the Lactic Peel – you will have to let me know how it goes!! (As I said in the beginning of the video – if I had been HORRIBLE – I wouldn’t have been bold enough to share :)

Danielle – Lactic Acid peels are AWESOME for people who do not want down time! There is no flaking or peeling – just perfectly glowing skin! Obviously – the results are not as great as a deeper peel – but they still exfoliate and smooth the surface of the skin. They are a great “quick fix” before a special event too! I just happen to know a company that supplies licensed skin specialists with 70% Lactic Acid ;)

  6. Well- Christina – I know you do!! Brilliant as you are :)

Danielle, had my chemical peel and it went GREAT! I’m still a little red and a lot shiny, but my skin feels really exfoliated. I’m in my 20s still so my aesthetician didn’t think I needed to go for a deeper peel. And, the best part was that I had absolutely no downtime. Immediately afterward, I reapplied my makeup and went to my brother’s birthday dinner. The only peeling I have is on the sides of my nose.
