The Lesson Of Real Beauty

Delighted.

That’s how I felt when I was asked to join the team of Real Beauty Bloggers for Therapon.

Not because I consider myself a Real Beauty. (stop laughing!)

Good Heavens, NO!

But because I think Real Beauty truly starts somewhere deep…. deep in your core…. or maybe deep in your dancing toes.  It starts deep in the place that makes you smile, the place that makes you laugh until you can’t stop, that place that wills YOU to be YOU.

And what a treasure to have a platform to talk about that incredible beauty…  how we find it within ourselves, how we nurture it, how it helps us to grow and change.

You see… I have this sweet little person at home who looks to me first to understand the world.  She sees herself through a filter…. and that filter is the one I have given her….  one that I am likely giving her in small doses every day.

Sure, I tell her she is pretty. But, I also tell her she is pretty smart and pretty funny and pretty goofy and pretty kind and a pretty good singer.  And all of those combine to make her pretty special and beautiful.

And all of those ‘prettys’ start somewhere inside.

So it is crucial to me that she understand beauty is NOT simply the reflection she sees in the mirror every day, but how she takes care of herself and what she does with her soul…

Danielle – As the mom of 3 girls (gasp – estrogen GALORE!) this post really hit home! Great reminder :) Not to mention I LOVE the pic!

    • This is such a good post…I have three daughters also, ages 14, 16, and 21. The social world will judge them on their outer appearance enough. I t is up to us to develop their confidence in their inner beauty. When all is said and done, the beauty that will shine is the light of the beauty from within them.
